PortForwarding a Belkin Router
So you’ve come across this blog page, why? You want to port forward…
Well here is a guide to take you step by step along with photos to show you what your looking for.
“What is a port forwarding?”
Think of a port as a door to your router that can only be opened from your side. Now what your trying to do is open that door to allow programs to talk to the world wide web or allow friends to join your computer to do gaming together.
Lets begin…
Step 1
Connect your computer or device to your modem/router via WiFi or Ethernet.
Open your browser (any browser will work)
Type into your address bar “192.168.2.1” (without the “”, www & http://)
A webpage with a Belkin logo should open up. (Image Below)
Step 2
Down the left hand side you will see a list of links to do different things. You will need to find and click the link that says “Virtual Servers”

The next window you will be confronted with a rather strange page with loads of boxes that can have data filled in.
What you will need to do to start with is know what port you need to forward.
“What is a port?”

“How do you know what port to open?”
Well thats difficult but there is a way… Most developers will post in there software or website on which port is needed for what.
(Example) Minecraft is one of the most common reasons that people look to do Port Forwarding, Minecraft uses the Port 25565.
Anyway back to the page…
Your page will look like this (below)
In this photo you may see that some of the details are already filled in. Basically thats what your wanting to do.
First things first, Where it says “Description” type whatever program your wanting to assign the port to.
“Inbound Port” type the port number you wish to forward. i.e. 25565 or 100 – 1000
Type of port, Leave that as “Both” if you can
“Private IP” This is your computers IP, You will find this if you go: System Preferences > Network
“Private Port” Place the port number in there again
Hit “Apply Changes” and your router will restart and your done.
